Was Medea really a barbarian? A myth of identity and otherness among the ancient Greeks
című előadására.

Medea is usually seen as a foreigner, a barbarian, who does not belong to the Greek world but comes from outside and disrupts the society into which she bursts. However, a very ancient tradition links her to the city of Corinth and makes her the legitimate heir to the throne. The myth of Medea is not confined to the murder of her children, as recounted by Euripides, but presents an ambivalent portrait of a powerful woman, which expresses the ambiguity and opposition between the masculine and the feminine, particularly in terms of power, and raises questions about identity and otherness within ancient Greek society.
